International Shiraz Day – 22nd July

Known as Syrah in Rhone, France, the same grape variety creates the widely known Shiraz in Australia. Australian Shiraz tends to be rich, riper, and full bodied compared to France’s typical Rhone-based Syrah.

The Shiraz fruit at Pt. Leo Estate is grown on a sloped hill to capture the afternoon sun, similar to the steeped terraces of the Rhone Valley. The result of our terroir and wine-making techniques, is an excellent example of a cool climate Shiraz showcasing a full-body, rich fruit flavours, typical black pepper characteristics, and a vibrant finish showing acid and fine tannin. With a strong cellaring potential, our Shiraz can be cellared for up to 5 to 7 years.
