Winemaking: Handpicked fruit was de-stemmed without crushing and elevated into small open fermenters. The must was left for 2-3 days then yeast was added. During fermentation the cap was plunged up to three times per day. 2-3 days after fermentation was complete, the must was gently pressed and transferred into French oak barriques (25% new, 75% old) where it underwent MLF. The wine was racked once in the spring and put back to barrels for further ageing. It was racked again in early February and bottled in February 2017.

Nose: Bright fruit with some plum, blackberry, spice and oak.

Palate: Flavours match the aroma – plum, blackberry, spice and oak with a lovely, long finish showing acid and fine tannin. It’s still quite young so suggested putting down and drinking over the next 3 to 5 years.

Compliments: Beef, duck, hearty slow-cooked meat dishes and cheese.
