Set in the breathtaking grounds of Pt. Leo Estate’s famous Sculpture Park in the Mornington Peninsula, the location alone will easily rival that of the most celebrated international automobile shows held each year. Owned by the Gandel family as a winery and private retreat for many years, the estate is now a world- renowned sculpture park with 135 hectares of manicured landscaping celebrating many of the most significant and respected sculptors from Australia and the globe. Together with her husband, Mrs Pauline Gandel AC has combined an intimate knowledge of sculpture parks around the world with an astute collector’s eye for major works that are seen to advantage in a panoramic outdoor setting, in building a collection unrivalled in this country.
The Motorists Concours d’Elegance will take place on the weekend prior to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix and will allow enthusiasts and casual observers to truly experience the aesthetic of the automobile as up to one hundred of the finest examples of concours and preservation-state cars of all types will be on display.
“We are thrilled to be the presenting partner for the Motorist’s Concours d’Elegance which will be held at Pt. Leo Estate. Our clients share a passion for the arts and motoring, and as an event we believe that it will be truly world-class and will gain international recognition. Australia’s passion for motoring and classic cars is matched with its enthusiasm and appreciation of fine watchmaking, making this the perfect partnership for Watches of Switzerland. In our 25th year since we opened our first boutique, we are very proud as an Australian-owned family business to be able to present the Concours d’Elegance on the Mornington Peninsula, which has true significance to our family. We look forward to sharing the beauty of the Pt. Leo Estate vineyard and its surrounding region, the classic cars and the amazing sculpture park with Australia and beyond, and to offer our clients the ability to have an up-close experience of all the weekend has to offer.” – Sam van der Griend – Managing Director, Watches of Switzerland.
